When Mingledorff’s, Inc. was founded in 1939, by a 25-year-old Walter Lee Mingledorff Jr., he had no idea how influential this new “supply house” would become for the HVAC industry. Today, we are proud to be the Southeast’s largest Carrier, Bryant, and Heil distributor with 41 distribution centers and counting. Our mission has always remained the same: Equipping HVAC Professionals to Succeed.

Mingledorff’s Story
Mingledorff’s, Inc. was founded in 1939 by Walter Lee Mingledorff Jr., a 25 year old engineering graduate from Savannah, Georgia. Originally operating as a franchised Carrier heating and cooling equipment installation contractor, Mingledorff’s first job was to install an air conditioning system at his father-in-law’s home – the first air conditioned home in Savannah.
The original compressor from this installation can be seen in the Mingledorff’s– Savannah Showroom. It was still operating when it was replaced in 1988, 49 years after it was first started.
During WWII, Mingledorff’s ceased all operations to help in the war effort. Mr. Mingledorff himself went to work building minesweepers for the US Navy while many employees went to work for the defense industry or served overseas. At the end of the war, the company began operations again, becoming a direct distributor for Carrier Company and adding diversity by expanding into the retail appliance business.
