Technical Services Manager
Southwest District
We all know how complicated Infinity and Evolution systems can be; wouldn’t it be nice if you could see operation data and fault codes without you actually being at the house? This is a real achievement that could be done as long as the homeowner has Wi-Fi and you (technician) are registered in HVACpartners under a Carrier or Bryant account. This remote monitoring center is called the “Dealer Portal” and/or “Connected Portal”.
Why would you need to see operation data and error codes remotely, and how could this be useful?
The data that will be shown on the Dealer Portal is dependent upon what type of equipment that customer has. For example, if it is a non communicating outdoor, you would simply see if it is being commanded on/off and you would see faults pertaining to an indoor unit only; whereas if the outdoor was a communicating unit with an inverter, then you would actually see refrigerant pressures, compressor RMPs, line temperatures, superheat, and basically everything the wall controller would tell you if you were on the job standing in front of it.
You would have access to see the last 10 fault events, the units running CFMs and possibly even the running pressures. The model and serial numbers are viewable for all communicating equipment that is installed at the customer’s residence. This information could help you diagnose what may be the problem and give you enough information about the units to take the needed part with you to the job.
Lastly, in the event that the unit acts up or faults out while you are not on the job, or has a pattern for faulting at night: you could use the Dealer Portal to monitor the system and see what it is doing at the time the unit malfunctions. If the unit is registered in the Dealer Portal, then you could call on a Mingledorff’s Technical Service Manager to access it and review how it is running. Configurations can be changed in the unit (if needed) through the portal, but only by the dealer.
Let’s get the customer on the portal:
Have the customer sign in with their credentials here:
Once logged in, click on “My Locations” shown below. This will populate any locations/ homes registered to the account.
Within the locations, Click the location you want to add to the portal on the drop arrow circled in purple. This will open up the units registered to their account for this particular location. From here, click on the unit drop down arrow circled in blue. This will reveal loads of information about the system. Go ahead and scroll down to the bottom of the system information and look for Dealer information for the next step.
If the customer has never had a dealer connected it should say “confirm your dealer” or either “select a different dealer”. I have circled this in yellow. Click on it. A popup screen will appear for an “edit system” screen.
On the “edit system” popup screen you will need to click the text again that will read either: “confirm your dealer” or either “select a different dealer”. I have this located with a red circle. When clicked another popup will appear for a screen labeled “select an expert”.
On this “select an expert” popup, enter the zip code, and search. Local Carrier/ Bryant dealers should populate. Find your dealership and click select, I have shown this with an orange circle. When pressed, the “select an expert” popup will go away and you will be back on the “edit system” popup.
When you return to the “edit system” popup screen, scroll all the way to the bottom. I have put green squares around 3 checkboxes that need to be checked. After checking the boxes, you must click the “saved” button shown in the red square.
At this point the unit has been registered to the Dealer Portal. Please allow 24-72 hours for the servers to sync with new changes. The servers will then show the added unit under the dealer’s name within the portal.
After the allotted time has elapsed. Go to:
www.hvacpartners.com and sign in.
I show the pathway through the drop-down menus in the following picture:
Marketing/ Dashboards & Portals/ Connected Portal. Click the connected portal.
If you are a dual branded dealer, then both Carrier and Bryant will appear. If not, you will only have your brand. Click on the needed portal to continue.
When you click on your portal, the following screen should appear. If you click on “customer” (in the orange square) a list of customers who have chosen you as their dealer will appear. To view the information about their system, click the “details” tab in the red square.
From here you can see the entire communicating system and all associated software versions along with model and serial numbers. In this example you can see by the two green boxes for the wall controller, that this customer only checked 2 or the 3 check boxes. To view more in-depth information about the equipment you have to click one of the blue “details” tabs
Below is the view after clicking details:
You can see the list that can be expanded which I have circled in purple.
I have cropped some screens, and modified the serial numbers to keep certain dealer and customer’s information private. Setting the customers up on the portal is an easy process and could reap many benefits. Carrier and Bryant are going to begin utilizing this portal more with new upcoming equipment.
Get out there and get connected to the portal!
